The Fall '21 Capsule Wardrobe
The Fall Capsule Wardrobe- this is a post I’ve been asked about a lot lately, and for a good reason. When shopping for new seasons it can be difficult to know where to start, what to prioritize, and which pieces are worth the investment.
Some people live strictly by the rules of a capsule wardrobe, aka not adding new items, but this post is for everyone- even if you just want some help brainstorming for fall. As a stylist, I love to incorporate up-and-coming brands & trends into my work, so these pieces are more of baseline for me.
When creating this post I kept in mind wearability, quality, style, and cohesion- meaning all of these pieces are from brands I trust, and work well together in multiple combinations (from casual weekend wear to nights out).
white button up: this can be worn on its own or as a layering piece- style with the SKIMS bodysuit & heeled booties for a night out.
graphic tee: a black & white graphic tee adds some character to your outfits- my favorite is a boxy / cropped fit that sits right at the top of high rise bottoms.
chunky cardigan: the brand & other stories is awesome for knitwear in general- this is another great layering item that balances out more countour style pieces.
plaid shirt: I chose a heavier shirt that can double as a jacket (the “shacket” if you will), super cozy & perfect for weekend street style.
cami bodysuit: from my experience, SKIMS is 100% worth the investment- these bodysuits double as shape-wear and hide any underwear lines.
turtleneck sweater dress: this dress is super versatile- for daytime, style it with the beige blazer & sneakers, then at night the over-the-knee boots & leather jacket.
notch mini skirt: normally I’d put a black dress in a capsule, but I chose a skirt this time- it can be worn casually with the fiorucci graphic tee, or dressed up with the SKIMS bodysuit.
straight leg leather pants: these are a great crossover between casual & workwear- style with the black blazer & white button up (baseball cap not necessary but highly recommended!).
straight leg ripped jeans: I post abut these A&F jeans all the time, but they’re worth it! amazing fit & quality for their price-point.
longline biker jacket: this year I chose a longline style over cropped- the length balances out a bodycon top or dress, and an oversized fit layers easily with hoodies / chunky knits.
beige boyfriend blazer: blazers have become a staple in my wardrobe- adding a color like brown or beige can give an otherwise black / white outfit some warmth.
black boyfriend blazer: everlane is my favorite brand for this- their ‘easy blazer’ is amazing, I’ve had mine for over a year now & its kept its shape / color perfectly.
over-the-knee boots: no brand does these better than stuart weitzman! the ‘lesley 75’ is my current favorite design, it has a mid heel that works for both day & night looks.
white low top sneakers: my top pick in this category is nike air force 1’s, these have an understated look & classic shape.
combat boots: of course the most iconic brand for these is Dr. Marten- my favorite style of theirs is the ‘jadon’ (platform & signature yellow stitch detail).
ankle booties: I love a block heel boot- super sexy for nights out & comfortable to walk in! this public desire pair is very similar to an alexander wang design from a few years ago, definitely a steal.
